Abdullah Abdullah est un médecin et homme politique afghan. Conseiller du Commandant Massoud, il fut nommé en 1995 porte-parole de l'éphémère gouvernement de l'Etat islamique d'Afghanistan, renversé par les Talibans en 1996. Il exerce alors les fonctions de Ministre des Affaires étrangères en exil de l'Alliance du Nord jusqu'en 2001, puis du gouvernement Karzaï jusqu'en 2006. En 2009, Abdullah Abdullah se présente à l'élection présidentielle et obtient 30,6% des voix au premier tour. Principal adversaire du Président sortant Hamid Karzaï, Abdullah Abdullah renonce néanmoins à se présenter au deuxième tour.
